Enjoy the slower pace of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in North Conway at the Mount Washington Valley Ski Touring, whose trails wind throughout Whitaker Woods and along the Saco River’s Intervale. On the last weekend in February you can ski from inn-to-inn at their annual Chocolate Festival. Venture to Bartlett to Bear Notch Ski Touring Center, to Jackson Ski Touring Center or to Pinkham Notch to Great Glen Trails at the foot of Mount Washington. Then come back and enjoy apres ski in one of the many bars or restaurants in town. When Spring and Summer come, hike one of the hundreds of trails in the White Mountains. Try nearby Black Cap for a great beginner’s hike. Go mountain biking or kayak and canoe the Saco River. There’s fishing and boating on Conway Lake, one of the most beautiful, clean and scenic lakes in the state. Enjoy a train ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad, or venture out of town to visit historic sites, like the Willey House in Crawford Notch, ride the bike trail in Franconia Notch or take photos of the covered bridges.
